Solar Staff. Work solo, not alone

Solar Staff is a platform that handles contracts, payouts and paperwork between companies and freelancers, with payouts to 190+ countries. It had always sold to companies. Now it was launching an app for the freelancers themselves, in English, and wanted more turnover from clients paying freelancers abroad. The product is payments and documents. Nobody asks for an ad about those.

Freelancers handle clients, payments and documents alone. Many lean on a friend to get paid or to sign a paper, and lose the job when that fails. We pitched four directions, and the client picked the one that gives the loneliness a crowd: an invisible support team.

In the banners the idea is literal: a freelancer in colour in front, a crowd of line-drawn helpers behind her, one spinning a globe of banknotes, one handing over cards, one bringing papers.

In the film we used adventure-film tropes. A treasure hunter with a tablet walks into a jungle cave, a giant contract looms, and boulders and paper rocks bury her. One tap in the app and the pile bursts: she sits calmly at her desk while her team walks in with the deals, the money and the admin.

Solar Staff launched the app in December 2022 with our English film and banners. The freelancer app has since grown into its own global brand, Flexis.
